We run two recruit intakes a year (usually March/April and September/October) for new cadets aged 13-17 years old. During the intake process you will experience a wide variety of activities and get a snapshot of what the Air Training Corps can offer you. We have developed the intake process to ensure you get the best possible start to your cadet career.
Step 1 - Contact Us
You can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Our Recruitment Officer will be in touch within a few weeks to confirm your application and provide any more details on the upcoming recruitment intake. If you have any questions you can also email or call us on one of our parade evenings (see the Contact Us
page for details).
Step 2 - Introduction Evening
This is the first night for all new cadets where you'll get more information about the Air Training Corps and 97 (Croydon) Squadron. You will also meet the Commanding Officer and other staff and cadets. You will need to attend with a parent or guardian as they will need to complete some forms.
Step 3 - Start your cadet career
You will now join the junior cadet flight and work as a team with the other new cadets. You will attend with the rest of the Squadron on Monday and Thursday evenings from 19:15 till 21:45. You will be led by a team of cadet NCOs (junior leaders) and will go through initial training on a number of areas, as well as experiencing some of the great things the Air Training Corps can offer you. After successfully completing your junior cadet training you will become a fully fledged member of the best youth organisation in the country.
